| 内容記述 | Numerous reports described the existence of radioinduced adaptive response (AR), a phenomenon of priming low-dose irradiation-induced resistance to subsequent irradiation at higher doses. AR research is of great concern as investigations on the conditions essential for AR induction provide important scientific basis for risk estimates and offer significant insight into the novel biological defense mechanisms. However, all the investigations at whole body level were performed using only low LET X-irradiations. In a series of study, possible AR induction by accelerated heavy ions (HI) is being attempted both in young adult female mice and in fetal mice of C57BL/6J Jms strain, using growth delay, hematopoietic damage and reduced survival in vivo, prenatal growth delay, malformation and death in utero as endpoints. Investigations are to verify if priming X-irradiation could induce any resistance against the detrimental effects from high challenging dose of HI, if priming irradiations from HI could induce an AR against the detrimental effects from high challenging dose of X-irradiations, and if an AR could be induced when both priming and challenging irradiations are from HI. Three kinds of accelerated HI from mono beams of carbon, silicon and ion generated by HIMAC, with the LET values of about 15, 55, and 200 keV/micrometer respectively, are being examined. Though the essential conditions vary on particle and/or LET, successful induction of AR is induced for the first time using HI irradiations as either priming irradiation or challenging irradiation both in vivo and in utero. Details will be presented and discussed. |
