内容記述 | Water has a non-negligible contribution to the radiation damage of DNA; however, many parts of the microscopic relationship still remain unclear. This article reviews our recent study in which we explore the microscopic behaviors of water and OH radicals interacting with DNA. Their accessibilities to the DNA backbone hydrogen sites (H1’–H5’) were calculated by using molecular dynamics (MD) simulation. The result found that the accessibility is well correlated with the site-dependent reactivity with OH radicals experimentally reported. This indicates that the DNA damage production is mainly determined by the atomistic features of accessibility. Compared with the previous study, the present MD provided a slightly improved correlation, which suggests importance of electrostatic interactions and DNA conformational fluctuation. | |||||
