| 内容記述 | Neutron beam is a powerful tool for investigating the structure and properties of materials used in science and technology. A laser-driven neutron source (LDNS) is utilized to a non-destructive inspection of hazardous substances in batteries. The thickness of anode cadmium (Cd) contained in a nickel (Ni)-Cd battery is evaluated from the neutron transmittance, resulting in agreement with the actual content. The fact that the neutron inspection above is performed with a single laser shot, i.e., with a single bunch of neutrons leads to a safer neutron source that is optically controlled on/off, and capable of a pump-probe technique. |
