The MK model developed by National Institute of Radiological Sciences (NIRS) is currently the world\u0027s standard biological model for calculating biological effects, which is known to be very good for carbon ions. NIRS recently announced a multi-ion treatment plan to produce better tumor outcomes from increasing the LET in tumors. This plan will use helium, carbon, oxygen and neon ions to treat pancreatic cancer. To estimate biological effect in multi-ion therapy, we measured lineal energy spectra of each ion by using the silicon- on-insulator (SOI) microdosimeter with well-defined 3D-sensitive volumes (SV) developed by the Centre for Medical Radiation Physics (CMRP) at the University of Wollongong. The 166, 313, 374, 430 MeV/u of each pristine helium, carbon, oxygen and neon ions were irradiated to the SOI microdosimeter of different depth in PMMA to obtain the microdosimetric spectra.
