内容記述 | Long pulse operation of H- negative ion beams having energies of 0.5 MeV with the current density of 150 A/m2 for 100 s were demonstrated in the MeV facility in QST for the development of neutral beam injector (NBI) systems of fusion reactors. The main challenge for the long pulse operation is to suppress beam current degradation which is caused by complications arising from the use of cesium to enhance the H- production in the ion source. In the test, optical emission spectroscopy of the Cs line emissions were analyzed to understand the behavior of Cs during the long pulse arc discharge. The effect of temperature control in the chamber walls influences the Cs coverage in the ion source and results in stable beam operation as the amount of Cs neutrals in the plasma is properly controlled. | |||||
