内容記述 In future high-energy accelerators such as the International Linear Collider (ILC) the beam energy can be above 100 GeV. For example, the beam power of the ILC can be 5-17 MW depending of its energy and treating such huge power consumption at the beam dumps is a challenge task as engineering work. We consider a new beam dump using a combination of high power laser and
plasma. The plasma wake driven by electron or positron beams can decelerate the latter part of a bunch but cannot be done for the front portion of the bunch efficiently. In addition to the plasma dump an intense laser pulse strongly damps the beam energy via radiation damping and/or other QED processes.
This scheme is also opens a new path to study fundamental physics problems.
