内容記述 Vitamin E is known to efficiently scavenge reactive oxygen species and related radicals via hydrogen transfer from its phenolic hydroxy group. However, the detailed reaction mechanism has yet to be fully clarified. In this study, the kinetic isotope effect was investigated for the reaction of Trolox, a water soluble vitamin E analog, with 2,2-diphenyl-1-picrylhydrazyl (DPPH) radical solubilized by beta-cyclodextrin in water. A deuterium kinetic isotope effect of 5.0 was observed in 0.1 M BIS-TRIS buffer (pH/pD 6.9). The DPPH radical-scavenging mechanism of Trolox will be discussed on the basis of the effect of pH and solvents on the second-order rate constants observed in this study.
