However, the detailed reaction mechanism has yet to be fully clarified. In this study, the kinetic isotope effect was investigated for the reaction of Trolox, a water soluble vitamin E analog, with 2,2-diphenyl-1-picrylhydrazyl (DPPH) radical solubilized by beta-cyclodextrin in water. A deuterium kinetic isotope effect of 5.0 was observed in 0.1 M BIS-TRIS buffer (pH/pD 6.9).
