内容記述 | Metastasis control is one of the important issues in cancer treatment including radiation therapy (RT). Carbon-ion (C-ion) RT is an advanced RT using positively-charged carbon ion particles, and has achieved better results, especially local control, due to the biological properties and excellent dose distribution. Previously, we reported that lung metastasis was notably repressed by the combined therapy of C-ion irradiation and dendritic cell (DC) immunotherapy in a mouse metastasis model using a squamous cell carcinoma cell line, NRS1, inoculated in a leg of C3H/He mice. In this study, we aimed to obtain evidences for expanding the range of application for the combined therapy. We established mouse metastasis models using a lung cancer cell line, LLC, and an osteosarcoma cell line, LM8, inoculated into C57BL/6J and C3H/He mice, respectively. Under conditions that there were no significant effects on growth of transplanted tumor by the treatments, the number of lung metastasis was significantly decreased by only the combined therapy, but not by C-ion irradiation or DC injection alone. This result clearly indicated that the combination therapy was effective for repressing metastasis. |
