| 内容記述 | The CROSS (Correlation Response Observatory for Scintillation Signals) project was initiated in October 2008 to develop medical diagnostic equipment with performance that is equivalent or slightly superior to that of existing positron emission tomography equipment, but with production costs that are lower than those of existing equipment. Gamma-ray detection by an organic material (e.g., 100% pure polyvinyltoluene or a slab of PET bottle) and a NaI(Tl) scintillator is one of the essential goals of the project. To evaluate the concept of the project, an animal-sized diagnostic detector named CROSS-zero was developed. \nIn this workshop, we will chiefly report on the outline of the CROSS project and the performance of the CROSS-zero detector. The present study is a result of the High Sensitivity Imaging Modality and CROSS project entrusted to the National Institute of Radiological Sciences by the Ministry of Education, Culture, Sports, Science and Technology of Japan (MEXT). |
