内容記述 Propose: Patient positioning is a crucial part in radiation therapy. It is largely related to achieving the appropriate irradiation and the planned dose in tumor, and also reducing unnecessary dose in normal tissue. We usually use visible laser pointer, X-ray imaging from multiple directions, and X-ray CT imaging as patient positioning equipments. Bone structure, characteristic organ/tissue landmark, and implanted metal marker are used for reference points. We should know the accuracy and limitation of the positioning process for actual radiation treatment, so that the treatment is properly done as expected. / Methods: The evaluation of positioning accuracy, time for positioning, and inter-fractional stability of such quantities is carried out retrospectively by analyzing X-ray images taken at each patient positioning, and mechanical setting values of patient couch. / Results: Here we show the evaluation of positioning accuracy, time for positioning, and inter-fractional reproducibility and stability of such quantities at HIMAC carbon ion treatment facility. / Conclusions: Then, we discuss the limitation of positioning accuracy, and the application range through several comparisons between different parts/organs, different imaging devices (I.I. tube, FPD), and different treatment facilities.
