内容記述 | Hypoxia causes various kinds of malignant transformation in tumor cells and is considered to lead to the development of radioresistance. Cu-ATSM has been proven to be a promising agent to identify hypoxic portion of tumors in PET, and studies suggest that it may predict the prognosis of radiothraoy patients. We investigated the relationship between the Cu-ATSM accumulation in tumors and the radiosensitivity in a mouse tumor model. Three pairs of mouse tumors (squamous cell carcinoma, fibrosarcoma, and adenocarcinoma) with known radiosensitivity were transplanted in synergic C3H mice, and the biodistribution of 62Cu-ATSM was studied. In the pairs of squamous cell carcinoma (NR-S1 and SCCVII) and fibrosarcoma (NFSa and #8520), which have shown different degrees of radiosensitivity, the accumulation of 62Cu-ATSM was significantly higher in the radioresistant typess pf tumors (NR-S1 and NFSa) than in the radiosensitive types (SCCVII and #8520). In the pair of adenocarcinoma (MMCa and MCa#4), which demonstrate similar degree of radiosensitivity, the accumulation of 62Cu-ATSM did not differ significantly between these two types of adenocarcinoma. These results suggest that the qualitative PET imaging using 62Cu-ATSM may be able to identify patients with radioresistant tumor types and lead to selection of candidates who may most denefit from carbon ion therapy. | |||||
