| 内容記述 | To study the effects of heavy ion beam exposure on the response of male gonads during the development of the fetal rats, either the fetuses in uterus or the cultured fetal testes in vitro were exposed to carbon ion beams at a dose range from 0.1 Gy to 2.5Gy. In addition to the LET value of 13 KeV/mm for the in uterus irradiation, the LET values at 40, or 80 KeV/mm were also applied for the in vitro experiment. Both apoptosis induction and its related gene expression in the testis tissues after irradiation are under investigation. From the next year, the accomplishment of physiological markers and reflexes, body weight, testicular weight, condition of the seminiferous tubules, the numbers of germ cells and Sertoli cells will be measured in the prenatally irradiated male rats during their postnatal development. Effects from heavy ion beams will be also comparatively studied to that from the X-irradiations for the RBE estimation of the carbon ion irradiation. |
