内容記述 | Acoustic signals were detected by using lead-zirconate-titanate (PZT) elements. The S/N ratio was improved by using an experimental configuration to reduce electromagnetic and mechanical backgrounds as well as ambiguities due to misalignment. A detector array, which consisted of eighteen 0.5mm thick elements, was put in an acrylic chamber, with which the detector array was well aligned with the beam line. Thus, we obtained a relation between the energy loss and the summed thickness of PZT at each element. As the result, the energy loss vs PZT-thickness is consistent with calculated results based on the Bethe-Bloch formula. In addition, the energy loss in acrylic absorbers was well confirmed by the PZT array. On the other hand, we have obtained no positive result by an indirect method. |
