内容記述 | For a large-scale cyclotron using normal conducting magnet coils, tens of hours are required to obtain a highly stabilized magnetic field, since heat transfer from the coil causes gradual temperature changes of the magnet. To suppress heat transfer and stabilize the magnet temperature, a couple of water-cooled copper plates was inserted between the main coil and the magnetic yoke of the TIARA K110 cyclotron. Heat generation of the main coil depends on the coil current, i.e., an accelerated ion beam. To stabilize the magnet temperature, a technique was developed by controlling the temperature of the cooling-water of the copper plates, depending on the main coil current. Consequently, we succeeded in stabilizing the temperature of the magnet to 24 ± 0.3°C for various ion beams, and the magnetic field was maintained at dB/B = 1 x 10−5 after a few hours from the initiation of the cyclotron operation. | |||||
