内容記述 The effect of linear energy transfer (LET) on the scintillation properties of Ce-doped Ca3B2O6 crystals was analyzed. The rise in the scintillation temporal profile was significantly slower for 20 MeV H+ irradiation, which had the lowest LET among the experimental conditions considered in this study. Observations of the scintillation temporal profiles at different wavelengths revealed that a fast component in the ultraviolet (UV) region, which is attributed to localized centers such as defects, contributes to the shoulder structure at the rise. The relative contribution of the fast and Ce3+ emission components depends on the LET, which results in LET-dependent scintillation temporal profiles. The LET effect on the relative contribution of the two components is explained in terms of the competition between the energy transfer from the host to Ce3+ ions or the localized centers, and the quenching owing to the interaction between excited states prior to the energy transfer.
