内容記述 | As a complex system, tissue has a highly dynamic structure to maintain a stable internal environment and such homeostasis mechanisms could be involved in radiation-induced biological responses at the tissue level. In fact, tissue-weighting factors have been regarded as an essential index for the guideline released from the International Committee on Radiological Protection. The illustrations of the applications of microbeams and tissue cultures in this article focus on their relevance to radiobiology and health physics, demonstrating the importance of synergy in the radiation sciences. In addition, we show an application of an ex vivo mouse testicular tissue culture as an experimental model of spermatogenesis to investigate the radiobiological effects with X-ray microbeams. Our model represents a unique application in the field, which offers significant potential for gaining further mechanistic insight into radiation biological effects at the tissue level and appropriate radiological protection. The viewpoint of radiation tissue biology will provide a novel approach for more accurate risk assessment of radiation exposures. | |||||
