内容記述 | The purpose of this work is to develop and validate a simulation model of a depth-of-interaction enabled whole-body PET scanner developed at the National Institute of Radiological Sciences, Japan, using the Geant4 Monte Carlo toolkit. The model was validated via experimental measurements performed on the physical PET scanner, constructed according to the NEMA NU-2 2012 protocol. Mean sensitivities of the scanner were 5.9 cps/kBq and 6.2 cps/kBq for experiment and simulation, respectively. Mean simulation and experimental spatial resolutions were 5.2 ± 0.7 mm and 4.9 ± 0.8 mm, respectively. Experimental and simulation scatter fractions were 48.4% and 48.1%, respectively. The results demonstrate that the developed Geant4 model reliably reproduces the key NEMA NU-2 2012 performance metrics evaluated on the physical PET scanner. The validated Geant4 model can be modified to incorporate other PET geometries such as the slanted single-ring OpenPET for in-beam QA in heavy ion therapy. | |||||
