内容記述 Recent studies in experimental psychology have suggested that some aspects of mental processing may be modeled efficiently by the mathematical framework developed in quantum mechanics. However, the corresponding neural underpinning has not been clarified yet. To address this question, here we present our preliminary study that investigated the pattern of mass neural activities while a mouse underwent the binocular rivalry paradigm, a well-known phenomenon in which visual perception alternates between two distinct stimuli presented to each eye. During the experiment, a mouse viewed dark vertical and horizontal stripes on a light background with the left and right eye, respectively. These visual stimuli were presented either simultaneously (SIM condition) or individually (IND condition) at one time. We used a two-photon mesoscope to record the associated brain activities through a cranial window mounted on the top of the opened skull. A green fluorescent protein-based calcium probe (GCaMP) was used to measure the ongoing activities of the individual neurons in the superior part of the brain. We applied a machine learning technique to the time series data during the IND condition and constructed a decoder that identified the pattern of neural activities specific to the stripe pattern (vertical or horizontal). We then examined if this decoder can be used to analyze the neural activities during the SIM condition to reveal the subjective perception of the stimuli. We discuss how this methodology may be extended to investigate the pattern of perceptual transition which may be modeled by the quantum probabilistic framework.
