内容記述 | How to effectively reduce the effect of radiation to human is a very important issue. Based on the heavy ion beam, this project is to study the protective effects of yeast β-glucan against heavy ion radiations on the cultured mammalian cells; further to explore the relationship between this protective effect and mammalian cells proliferation related signal pathway. We expect the results of this project could provide valuable experimental data for the development of a safe, effective radiation protection health food. Previous reports showed that β-glucan have the ability to enhance the immunomodulation activities of mammals and showed the potential of anti-infections. In this study, we explored whether β-glucan protects against the damage induced by heavy ions irradiation. Human umbilical vein endothelial cells (Eahy926) and human alveolar basal epithelial cells (A549) were treated with β-glucan for before X-ray or carbon ions irradiation. We measured the cell survival and at the 1h after irradiation we measured the DNA damage. The β-glucan showed protective effects against carbon ions irradiation. | |||||
