内容記述 The previous studies revealed that the expression of a unique DNA repair-related protein PprA was up-regulated by a DNA damage response regulator PprI following DNA damage in D. radiodurans. Analysis of the genome sequences of Deinococcus spp. discovered the RDR motif, existing upstream of the radiation-inducible genes, that serves as an operator sequence in the unique DNA repair response system. Thus, both of molecular genetics and bioinformatic analyses have been greatly useful to elucidate the unique DNA repair mechanisms of Deinococcus spp. Recently, we published the draft genome sequences of D. grandis and D. aerius. In this study, we conducted the comparative genomic analysis between D. radiodurans, D. grandis and D. aerius to elucidate the unique features in them. The genes related to DNA repair systems were highly conserved between the three genomes. Basically, the genomes possessed a DNA damage response regulator and several RDR regulons. We will discuss the unique DNA repair mechanisms of Deinococcus spp. which were revealed by our comparative genomic analysis.
