内容記述 | We have treated more than 11000 patients with many different types of cancer up to now, and achieved promising outcomes. Here we present our recent novel findings about the molecular mechanisms of high radiocurability produced by carbon ion beams alone or in combination with DNA damaging drugs or with micro RNA 200c mimic from the point of view of targeting cancer stem cells (CSCs) in vitro and/or in vivo. The relative biological effectiveness (RBE) values for the carbon ion beams relative to X-rays at the D10 levels for CSCs were 2.1-2.4. The colony and spheroid formation capability of CSCs was significantly inhibited by carbon ion beam combined with DNA damaging drugs or with micro RNA 200c mimic. Carbon ion beams effectively destroyed pancreatic or breast and mesothelioma xenograft tumors when combined with gemcitabine or cisplatin. Expressions of E-cadherin, SDF1, MMP2 were effectively inhibited by high doses of carbon ion beams. In conclusion, carbon ion beams combined with DNA damaging drugs or with microRNA 200 mimic have high potential to eliminate pancreatic, breast and mesothelioma CSCs, and possibly obtain greater efficacy compared to carbon ion beams alone. |
