内容記述 | The quality of drinking water is believed to make anti-aging effects in folk belief level. However, no enough scientific information has been available for the water choice. Three Japanese local and six worldwide commercial mineral water products were tested in this study. The lyophilized residual weight, pH, X-ray induced hydroxyl radical (•OH) generation, and free radical reducing ability of commercialized mineral water were measured and compared among them. X-ray induced •OH generation in the water samples and intrinsic free radical reducing abilities of the water samples were measured by an applied method of electron paramagnetic resonance (EPR) spin-trapping technique using 5,5-dimethyl-1-pyrroline N-oxide (DMPO) as the spin-trapping agent. A correlation was observed between X-ray induced •OH generation in the sample water and pH of the water samples (p = 0.072). Another correlation was also observed between free radical reducing ability in the sample water and (1 – H/R) value (p = 0.035), which is reflecting mineral contents other than calcium and magnesium, of the water samples. No correlations were found among other factors. |
