内容記述 | Research on induction of adaptive response (AR) is expected to contribute to the risk estimation, practical applications to active induction of radioresistance and to cancer therapy, and mechanism of heavy ion irradiations. In a series of investigation, induction of AR by combination of irradiation with different LET values was attempted in a series of investigations in young adult female mice of C57BL/6J strain using thirty-day survival test as main endpoint. For total body irradiations, X-rays and high LET accelerated heavy ion irradiations including carbon, silicon, neon and iron particles were used. Significant suppression of mouse death was used as a criterion for judgment of a successful AR induction. In the past 6 years, twenty-three combinations were performed. Results showed that induction of AR is an event depending on the LET or/and species of the ions. Generally, it is hardly to induce AR by X-rays against heavy ion irradiations with very high LET values, and high LET heavy ion irradiations hardly induce AR against X-rays or higher LET heavy ion irradiations. As the mechanism under low LET X-ray-induced AR is the induced resistance in the hematopoietic system, these findings would provide a new insight into further mechanistic study on radiation-induced AR. In the present presentation, these findings will be reported. In addition, recent work on the responses in the hematopoietic system under AR-inducible and AR-uninducible conditions will be discussed. | |||||
