内容記述 | It is well known that the long-time storage of PADC track detectors in vacuum significantly decreases the track registration sensitivity. In order to identify the chemical modification along ion tracks in PADC, we have made a series of FT-IR measurements for thin PADC films irradiated by proton and heavy ions in air. In the present work, we performed the experiments in vacuum irradiations with C ion beams at an energy of 4.0 MeV/n to confirm the effect of the oxygen in forming the latent track. This is important to understand the role of the dissolved oxygen in the track formation process in PADC. The track core radius for the loss of ether and carbonate ester bonds in vacuum irradiations has been found to be smaller than that in air by 10%. The radiation chemical yields, G values (scissions/100 eV), for the loss of each bond were also lower than that in air by 25%. Additionally, we performed the other experiment using gamma ray from intense Co-60 source under air and vacuum conditions. The observed G value is concordant to that of C ions irradiations. | |||||
