内容記述タイプ Abstract
内容記述 On the basis of more than ten years of experience of the carbon-ion radiotherapy with HIMAC (Heavy-Ion Medical Accelerator in Chiba) we have carried out a new treatment research project for adaptive cancer therapy with HIMAC since April 2006. In this project, 3D fast raster-scanning method with gated irradiation with patients respiration has been successfully developed, in order to realize adaptive cancer therapy in both the moving and fixed targets. In this method, we have studied on three subjects in order to increase the scanning speed without any disturbance of the dose distribution: 1) Development of a new treatment planning, 2) Extended flattop operation of the HIMAC synchrotron and 3) Design and construction of fast scanning-magnet system. As shown in Fig. 1, we constructed a beam-test port in the HIMAC facility to verify its performance. As a result of experiments, we obtained good dose distributions as expected under the scanning speed of 100 m/s in horizontal direction and that of 50 m/s in the vertical one. We have constructed a new treatment facility in order to apply the 3D fast raster-scanning developed to practical treatment for the adaptive cancer therapy. This facility, which is connected with the HIMAC accelerator has three treatment rooms: two rooms equipped with horizontal and vertical beam-delivery systems and one room with a rotating gantry. The building construction of the new treatment facility was completed at March 2010 and treatment of 1st patient is scheduled at March 2011. We will report the recent progress on the new treatment research project at HIMAC.
