内容記述 | We have been developing three-dimensional educational animations in the field of medical physics and radiological technology. Each animation is several tens of seconds or a few minutes long and to be played with a personal computer. The contents are about basic radiation interactions with matters, principle of various radiation detectors and radiological equipments, and radiological technology including nuclear medicine and radiotherapy. In these animations, invisible microscopic things such as radiations, atoms, and elementary particles are virtually visualized with various emphasizing and decorating visual effects to attract attentions and interests of learners. The targets include not only undergraduate students in medical physics and radiological technology courses, but also any other learners who should be interested in and have to more understand radiation physics-related subjects. Commercial as well as free softwares and personal computers were used to make and compile animations. A free DICOM viewer, OsiriX, was used to make a part of three-dimensional human models. Monte Carlo simulation softwares, Geant4 and GATE, were used to simulate radiation physics phenomena and produce realistic radiation tracks. Those animations are used in normal lecture rooms where a computer projector screens can be used simultaneously with a conventional blackboards. Internet WebPages are also being developed to increase learning opportunities and to enlarge the target learners more than the admitted students. While these multimedia materials were useful, sometimes learners tend to be passive in seeing them without making an effort to understand them. We added some interactivity, which enable teachers and learners to change some physics parameters and viewing parameters by menu buttons and bars. This functionality is realized by preparing several animations corresponding to various combinations of the parameters and by relating them with the buttons and bars in WebPages. This interactivity is expected to reduce the passiveness which teachers and learners have suffered from. |
