内容記述タイプ Abstract
内容記述 Rhenium is one of the least abundant metals in the earth's crust and its concentration in environmental samples is not well known. Thus, we developed a simple separation method using an extraction chromatographic resin (TEVA resin, Eichrom) for Re determination in terrestrial water by quadrupole type ICP-MS (Agilent 7500a, Yokogawa). Using the method, Re concentration in water samples collected at 250 points of 25 Japanese rivers in 2002-2004 were measured.
The average chemical recovery using Re-185 spike was almost 100%, and the detection limit by the method was 0.02 ng/L when 100 mL of river water was applied. The Re values in the river water samples ranged from 0.12 to 8.72 ng/L with the average of 1.28 ng/L and were within the reported values. The average Re concentrations were slightly higher in eastern part of Japan than in western part. The Re concentrations in the upper sampling point of the rivers were compared with concentrations of several elements and ions. High correlations were observed with Ca, Mn, Se, Mo and sulfate. The highest correlation with sulfate (R=0.82) would be influenced by dissolution conditions of the elements or chemicals; Possible Re chemical form in parent rocks would be sulfites.
This work has been partially supported by the Agency for Natural Resources and Energy, the Ministry of Economy, Trade and Industry (METI), Japan.
