内容記述 | Purpose To achieve high temporal resolution and good image quality, we developed a respiratory gated segment reconstruction algorithm (RS-FDK) based on the Feldkamp-Davis-Kress algorithm using the prototype 256-detector row CT. \n Materials and Methods The 256-detector row CT could scan an approximately 120 mm long in the cranio-caudal direction with 0.5 mm slice thickness in one rotation. The concept of the RS-FDK was similar to the cardiac CT imaging with ECG gated, data acquisition for RS-FDK relies on the assistance of the respiratory sensing system by a cine scan mode (table remains stationary). The temporal resolution of RS-FDK was four times and twice higher than full-scan (FS-FDK) and half-scan (HS-FDK), respectively. Moreover RS-FDK has the same signal-to-noise ratio as FS-FDK. We evaluated it in four domestic pigs under free breathing. \nResults The RS-FDK visualized the clearest edges of the liver and pulmonary vessels of all algorithms. FS-FDK is the worst image quality due to the low temporal resolution. For mid-exhale and mid-inhale, however, geometrical distortions of pulmonary vessel and interlobular septa become visible in FS-FDK and HS-FDK. Images of HS-FDK suffer from a streak artifact on the ribs in spite of its good temporal resolution. \n <Conclusion> RS-FDK improved image quality for each respiratory phase. Since temporal resolution is important factor to minimize planning target volume margin due to the respiratory motion, RS-FDK will usefulness to adapt to new radiotherapy techniques including the image guided radiation therapy and 4D radiation therapy. |
