内容記述 | Effects of a thin foil plasma on filtering a nano-second pre-pulse in an ultra-intense ultra-short laser were investigated. Nano-second pluses from a regenerative amplifier of a chirped pulse amplification system interacted with micrometer-thick foils to produce plasma filters. Suppression and rapid recovery of transmittance of the pulses by generation and expansion of the plasmas were observed. For poly vinylidene chloride with 10 um thickness the recovery time was about 10 ns when irradiated with a 5x10^12 W/cm^2 laser pulse. For the time scale of the pre-plasma motion is in subnano- to nano-second, the dynamics of the pre-plasma is strongly affected by the nano-second pre-pulse. This pre-plasma condition is a crucial issue for ultra-intense laser applications such as energetic electron generation, ion generation, and X-ray generation. This technique investigated here may possibly be a candidate of a pre-pulse elimination method for future ultra-intense laser applications. | |||||
