内容記述 | In an anomalous condition of consciouseness, such as Chinese qigong or Zen meditation, large α waves appera additionally on the frontal area. These frontal α waves tend to synchronize with the occipital waves regarding phase. During the peculiar case of a qigong state and also some kinds of anomalous conditions, quite coherent αwaves can be often observed through the whole region of the brain. In this report, the EEGs of To-ate receivers are analyzed. To-ate is one traditional Japanese martial art, and the technique of attacking an opponent without touching. The martial artist has to detect qi-energy emitted by an attacer very quickly. In an experiment, two practitioners were placed in separate rooms, one of which was an eledctromagnetic shield room for the receiver. At a time set randomly within 80 secounds (1 traial), one practitioner (sender) emitted qi. The other one(receiver) made a sign with a switchi when he sensed the qi. In total 45 trials were done and the receiver's EEGs were analyzed for each 5.12 seconds of 4 periods; they were (a) before qi was being received, (b) before sending qi, (c) during sending and (d) after sending. At the time of actually receiving qi (during sending), α waves appeared diffusely toward the frontal area and the α ratio of the frontal midline (Fz) to the occipital region (O2) was larger in the period of (c) than (a).The lag time of α waves between O2 and Fz was calculated using a cross-correlation. The value in (a) was 19.5 ms and in (c),16.7ms. The α waves became synchronous while actually receiving qi. The appeararnce of the synchronous α waves seemed to reflect a peculiar condition below subconsciousness. |
