内容記述 | The analysis of temporary radon concentration changes in the atmosphere, soil and groundwater is an earthquake prediction method that has been extensively studied in seismic active areas, including Japan, China, Taiwan, India, Indonesia and the United States. \nIn some studies, not only radon but other meteorological, geochemical and hydrological parameters were measured. Sometimes anomalously high values of these parameters have been found along active faults. These results can be helpful in the understanding of earthquake-related and fault-related anomalies. \nEven though anomalous data have been recorded and analyzed before and after some earthquakes, their relationship to the corresponding earthquakes has been controversial. The observations may be affected by changes caused by meteorological parameters such as rainfall, pressure and temperature, solid-earth tides, as well as other hydrological and non-tectonic phenomena. \nIn order to determine if radon anomalies are actually associated with earthquakes, other interference signals should be identified and removed. |
