内容記述 The X'tal cube is a DOI-PET detector developed in collaboration between Hamamatsu Photonics K.K., Japan and our research team. It consists of a number of multi-pixel photon counters (MPPCs) and a scintillation crystal block segmented 3-dimensionally into cubes. No reflector is inserted in the crystal block so that scintillation light spreads 3-dimensionally inside of the crystal block. The MPPCs are then coupled to all sides of the crystal block. A radiation detected crystal segment can be determined by a simple Anger-type calculation with the MPPC signals. For the crystal block of the X'tal cube, at the first stage, we fabricated a 3-dimensional (3D) array of small cubic crystal elements (array-XC) and later, we developed the laser processing technique to segment inside of a monolithic crystal block 3-dimensionally (laser-XC). In both the array-XC and laser-XC, we attained the identification of 1.0 mm x 1.0 mm x 1.0 mm crystal segments. In this study, we focused on the Anger-type calculation for better segment identification performance. Applying some proportions of weights to the MPPC signal data obtained for the 1.0 mm cubic segment identification, we sought for the weights to get the best performance for each X'tal cube. As a result, we found that the optimal weight proportion was different between the array-XC and laser-XC.
