内容記述 | Induction of adaptive response (AR) by combination of irradiation with different LET values was attempted in a series of investigations both in young adult female mice and in fetal mice of C57BL/6J strain using mainly thirty-day survival in vivo and prenatal death & malformation in utero as endpoints. For mouse total body irradiations, X-rays and high LET accelerated heavy ion irradiations were used. In fiscal year 2012 in the in vivo studies using silicon, neon and iron irradiations, no AR was observable in the following combinations for the priming and challenging irradiations: neon plus neon, neon plus silicon, neon plus iron, silicon plus neon, iron plus neon and iron plus iron. Thus to date we have finished more than 20 combinations in the in vivo studies, and the results showed that induction of AR by X-rays against high LET heavy ion irradiations is an event depending on the LET or/and species of the ions, it is hardly to induce AR by high LET heavy ion irradiations against X-rays, and it seems that high LET heavy ion irradiations hardly induce any AR against higher LET heavy ion irradiations. As the mechanism underlying AR induced by X-rays as both the priming and the challenging doses was due to radioresistance occurring in hematopoietic tissues, to explore the mechanism involved in the AR induced by X-rays against heavy ion irradiations as well as the AR induced by heavy ion irradiations against heavy ion irradiations, in the future at first we would examine if the same mechanism is involved. In addition possible increase in DNA repair and antioxidant defenses will be also studied. | |||||
