内容記述タイプ Abstract
内容記述 Mono energetic neutron source is very useful not only for nuclear physics research, but also for the various applications such as calibration of neutron dosimeter, measurement of neutron response function of radiation detectors and research on neutron biological effects. Gamma rays are always accompanying with the neutron production reaction like a 7Li(p,n)7Be, and cause uncertainties for measured values. We have to evaluate the gamma-ray component of mono energetic neutron source in order to carry out the precise measurement. NaI(Tl) scintillators have been widely used because of high gamma-ray efficiency and good resolution of 7.0% at gamma-ray energy of 662 keV. The rise time of NaI(Tl) scintillator is around 50 ns, which allows us to carry out time of flight measurement of gamma rays and neutrons. We are able to measure gamma rays separately from neutrons by using time of flight method with the NaI(Tl) scintillator. The NaI(Tl) scintillator is useful to measure gamma rays under the neutron fields. We measured gamma rays at neutron experiment hall in Research Center for Nuclear Physics (RCNP) in Japan. This neutron field can provide mono energetic neutrons whose peak energy ranges from 100 MeV to 400 MeV. We used the NaI(Tl) scintillation detector of 7.62 cm diameter and 7.62 cm length. We discriminated gamma rays from neutrons, clearly. We also measured angular distributions at 0 deg., 15 deg., and 25 deg. respect to the beam axis. By using TOF method, we obtained prompt gamma ray, scattered and detector activated events. We separated prompt gamma ray events from other events, by setting the ROI as prompt gamma rays events in the time of flight distributions. Then we obtained prompt gamma-ray pulse-height spectra from lithium target bombarded by protons of 137 MeV and 200 MeV, respectively. We will derive gamma ray energy spectrum by unfolding and 7Li(p,gamma)8Be reaction cross sections.
