内容記述 | There is a continuing interest in the use of microbeam irradiation systems designed to deliver ionizing radiation with a resolution of a few micrometers in biological targets. Many facilities in the world are currently in operation, and have reported new research topics related to radiation induced cellular responses. This microbeam technique was originally designed to overcome the problem of the Poisson distribution of energy deposition in radiobiological experiments using mammalian cells. Although its potentials strongly expanded the field of low-dose radiation effect in cellular levels. Especially, radiation induced biological effects in un-irradiated cells, so-called bystander effects, which is considered to be an important phenomena in low-dose effects. In this presentation, 1) current developments and specification of the proton microbeam system, Single Particle Irradiation System to Cell (SPICE) at NIRS, 2) studies on bystander effects triggered by oxidative stress response in mammalian cells, and 3) bystander effect related radio-adaptive response induced by microbeam irradiation in Zebra fish embryos will be described. | |||||
