内容記述 | Medaka is a teleost fish native to the Asian countries. It has long been the study object of biology in various fields including radiation biology, especially in Japan. The effects of ionizing radiations on thymus have been studied by many investigators, and it has been well established that the thymus is a radiosensitive organ. Recently, the establishment of a transgenic medaka, rag1-egfp, makes it possible to directly visualize the thymus in vivo in a real time manner. In our previous investigation, decrease in the volume of thymus was confirmed in the rag1-egfp medaka after exposure to a dose from 5 to 10 Gy of X-rays. To comparatively study the effects between low and high LET irradiations on medaka thymus, in the present work, irradiations from accelerated Fe ions was verified. A total of 39 medaka fish were used in the control and the experimental groups exposed to a dose of 0.5, 1, 2, 5 or 10 Gy. The efficacy for induced reduction in the volume of thymus by 10 Gy from Fe-ion irradiations was similar to that by 30 Gy from X-rays, suggesting the RBE value for Fe-ion irradiations was around 3 with reference to X-rays. More detail investigations are needed. | |||||
