内容記述 | Research Activities/Programmes on Low Dose Risks in JAPAN In Japan a number of consortium/research institute have been involved in research related to low dose radiation risk. In a consortium supported by the Atomic Energy Commission, biological effects of low dose radiation have been analyzed at whole body level, cellular level, and molecular level. Based on the biological data, a computer model is constructed to evaluate biological responses to low dose radiation. Projects in National Institute of Radiological Sciences include epidemiology, age dependency of radiation effects, molecular mechanisms, modeling, and environmental exposure. Institute for Environmental Sciences possesses unique low dose-rate irradiation facilities; effects on life span and transgenerational effects have been studied using mice. The Central Research Institute of Electric Power Industry organizes a research consortium which covers epidemiological study on high background radiation area residents; mechanisms for low dose effects including adaptive responses, bystander effects and genomic instability; modeling of risk from low dose/dose-rate irradiation. |
