| 内容記述 | We report the status of our project developing a laser-plasma ion source as an injector for a very compact cancer therapy accelerator. We performed an experiment for generating the energetic ions at University of Tokyo. The wavelength and the pulse duration of the laser used in the experiment were 800 nm and 50 fs, respectively.As a result, we observed collimated protons up to 1 MeV energy with a Thomson parabola ion analyzer. To interpret the experimental results, we performed a simulation based on a model in which the pre-pulse burns the irradiated region of the foil target forming the layer of under-dense plasma with the thickness larger than the initial foil thickness. The results of simulation were consistent with our experimental data. We also started constructing an experimental system using 10 TW and 100 TW lasers at Advanced Photon Research Center, Kansai Research Establishment, Japan Atomic Energy Research Institute (JAERI). We will describe the present status of our experiments at JAERI. |
