| 内容記述 | Because 90% of esophageal cancer is diagnosed at a late stage, it is frequently treated using radiotherapy. However, overall therapeutic results are poor, and no one knows why. In this paper, two hypotheses to explain these poor therapeutic results will be discussed. A radiation sensitivity test on 31 human esophageal squamous cell carcinoma cell lines with a colony-formation assay demonstrated a large variation in radiosensitivity among cell lines. We can hypothesize that the existence of radioresistant cancer cell lines may partly explain the poor results or radiotherapy for this cancer. | |||||
