内容記述 Density of •OH in gelatin samples caused by irradiation of carbon ion beam was
investigated. •OH was detected by EPR spin trapping technique using DMPO as a spin
trapping agent. Gelatin samples containing several concentrations (7.7 to 1650 mM) of
DMPO were irradiated by 290 MeV carbon mono beam using HIMAC, applying several
LET (20 to 180 keV/micro-m) at the surface of the gelatin. The dose at the surface of the gelatin sample was 32 Gy. DMPO-OH (spin trapped •OH) in irradiated samples were detected by X-band EPR spectrometer. The experiments were repeated using X-ray. Amount of DMPO-OH generated by carbon-ion beam was markedly lower than that by X-ray. For carbon-ion beam, amount of DMPO-OH decreased with increasing LET. The EPR signal intensity of DMPO-OH in X-rayirradiated sample reached plateau around 30 mM DMPO; however, amount of DMPO-OH in carbon-beam-irradiated sample increased with concentration of DMPO added in the sample. This result suggests that •OH generation around the truck of carbon ion beam was much dense compared with X-ray.
