内容記述 In the present study, unirradaited L5178Y (LY) lymphoma cells were co-cultured for 16 h with HSG cells irradiated by either 290 MeV/u carbon ions or X-rays. The results showed that the survival of the unirradiated recipient LY cells was significantly changed in bi-phases, which depended on the dose of the irradiation expoused to the co-cultured HSG cells. Cell damage of apoptosis and necrosis was also detected in a 48 h subculture of the unirradiated LY cells but it was eliminated by PTIO, suggesting that NO contributes to this bystander damage. This idea was strengthened by the finding that, as an oxidization of NO, nitrite was produced in the co-culture medium. The relationship of the concentration of nitrite in the co-culture medium to the survival and the cell damage of the unirradiated LY cells in turn pointed the involvement of NO in the above-mentioned bystander responses.
