内容記述 | Dose estimations by chromosome analysis were performed on 3 severely exposed patients and on 43 people exposed to low-level radiation in the Tokai-mura critically accident. In the cases of 2 of the 3 patients, the lymphocyte counts had drastically reduced, and it was not possible to perform the standard method of dose estimation by chromosome analysis. To collect the number of lymphocytes necessary for chromosome preparation, we applied a new high yield chromosome preparation method and estimated the dose of 3 patients by scoring prematurely condensed ring chromosomes (PCC-R) as we had developed just before this accident. The doses for 3 patients were over 20 GyEq, 7.8 GyEq and 2.6 GyEq by the PCC-R scoring method. With the high yield chromosome preparation, we could eventually perform the standard analysis of dicentric and ring chromosomes (Dic+Ring), and the corresponding values were 24.5 GyEq, 8.3 GyEq, and 3.0 GyEq. In the cases of the 43 people, five organizations shared the workload of scoring Dic+Ring for the dose estimation. Totally 67,879 cells (about 3.12 million chromosomes) were analyzed. Out of 43 people examined, 18 showed increase of the frequency of Dic+Ring that might be attributable to this accident. Their estimated doses were less than 5 mSv in 13 persons, 6-10 mSv in 3 persons, and 11-16 mSv in 2 persons. | |||||
