内容記述 | A fibrous grafted catalyst having proton (H+), which served as heterogeneous acidic catalyst for biodiesel fuel (BDF) production from free fatty acids (FFAs), was synthesized by radiation-induced emulsion grafting of ethyl p-styrenesulfonate (EtSS) onto a polyethylene nonwoven fabric and its subsequent saponification and protonation. The proton density of the fibrous grafted acidic catalyst could be controlled by the degree of grafting (Dg). Especially, it was found that the Dg was improved by the addition of small amounts of alcohol to the EtSS emulsion, and the Dg with added 4 wt% n-butanol was about 2 times higher than that without added alcohol (Dg: EtSS emulsion with n-butanol: 270%, EtSS emulsion without alcohol: 120%). The maximum proton density was 3.4 mmol-H+/g-catalyst. In the BDF production from FFAs using the fibrous grafted acidic catalyst, the conversion ratio of FFAs reached 90% after 4 h at 80°C. | |||||
