内容記述 | Accelerated heavy-ion beams has unique characteristics from the radiobiological point of view. This characteristic makes advantages and difficulties on heavy-ion radiotherapy, also makes difficult to understand the response of irradiated cells. Linear energy transfer (LET) of heavy-ion beams changes with depth in materials, and this change modifies the relative radiobiological effectiveness (RBE). Radiobiological effects were higher for lighter ion-beams at the same LET. The RBE increased with the increase of LET, showed a peak at around 100-200 keV/um, then decreased with farther increase of LET. These LET-RBE spectra shifted to higher LET region, the maximum RBE values decreased, and width of the peak of the RBE increased with increase of atomic number of accelerated ions. The peak of the RBE was only found in DNA-double strand break repair cells, but not in repair deficient cell strains. | |||||
