Anatomical changes during particle beam therapy can cause deviations in beam range, motivating the development of beam trajectory imaging techniques for range verification. Secondary electron bremsstrahlung (SEB) provides a promising signal for this purpose, but conventional pinhole-based imaging suffers from low detection efficiency. In this study, we investigated coded-aperture-based SEB imaging for carbon-ion beams through Monte Carlo simulations. SEB projection images were acquired for multiple beam energies with and without attenuation, and image reconstruction was performed using a coded aperture and a position-sensitive detector. The reconstructed images successfully visualized the beam trajectories, and energy-dependent shifts corresponding to beam range variations were observed, even under attenuated conditions. |
