An electron-beam irradiated nanodiamonds (NDs) with NV (nitrogen vacancy) centers are used as high-quality probes for in vivo imaging and sensing to detect magnetic and electrical changes induced by biological phenomena. Such in vivo probes are required to have quantum properties such as relaxation time to enable quantum measurement, and various material properties such as high brightness fluorescence, high dispersibility, uniformity of grain size, and uniformity of grain shape. For quantum measurement using these quantum properties of fluorescent nanodiamonds (FNDs), the formation of FNDs with excellent spin properties is required in addition to more efficient introduction of NV centers. And for research and development of nanoscale quantum biosensor technologies, we have been trying to optimize the technique of forming NV centers in NDs with high-brightnessfluorescence by electron irradiation and heat treatment of NDs. We are also optimizing the surface modification and surface coating of these NDs by applying chemical treatments suitable for bio-induction to the diamond surfaces prepared in this way. |
