内容記述 Dynamic positron emision tomography (PET) imaging can provide molecular information of living objects as a function of time. However, the temporal resolution of the state-of-the art PET scanners is over 1 second, which is not fast enough to capture rapidely changing brain or cardiac functions. Previously, we developed the total-body small animal (TBS) PET scanner with 4-layer depth-of-interaction (DOI) detectors to achieve ultrahigh sensitivity. However, the physical performance was not fully evaluated. More importantly, in vivo dynamic imaging was not demonstrated. In this study, we present the physical performance and sub-second dynamic PET imaging results of a rat with the TBS-PET scanner. The TBS PET has 155 mm inner diameter and 325.6 mm axial coverage featuring 45% peak sensitivity with an energy window of 250-750 keV (Fig. 1). Each DOI PET detector consisted of 4-layer 16×16 GSOZ crystals (2.8×2.8×7.5 mm3) and an 8×8 array multi-anode PMT. A bolus of 18F-FDG (21.2 MBq) was injected into an anesthetized rat via tail vein followed by saline injection. Dynamic PET images of a rat were obtained with 0.5 s time frame. In the time activity curves, the time dispersion between the left and right ventricles (1 s) was clearly separated. In conclusion, the TBS-PET enabled sub-second dynamic imaging for rodent models. The detailed dynamic PET analysis results will be presented at the conference.
