| 内容記述 | The purpose of this study is to evaluate the feasibility of monitoring therapeutic carbon-ion beams by measuring prompt X-rays in the clinical application of head treatment. Specifically, we investigated the ability to identify 2-cm differences in beam arrival depth in a head phantom using secondary electron bremsstrahlung. First, a Monte Carlo simulation was conducted. A head phantom was positioned at the center of the simulation space, surrounded by 24 X-ray cameras, and three carbon-ion beams were irradiated. Next, an experimental study was performed using the same beam configuration, with X-ray cameras acquiring images from parietal and temporal-head directions. Simulation results indicated that beam images could be acquired over a wide range of ±135 degrees from the parietal direction, distinguishing 1.8-cm depth differences. Experimentally obtained images were consistent with simulations. These findings suggest that prompt X-ray imaging is a promising tool for monitoring therapeutic carbon-ion beams. | |||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
