Advanced conversion electron Mossbauer spectroscopy (CEMS) techniques using a synchrotron Mossbauer source (SMS) have been developed at BL11XU of SPring-8. The brilliance of SMS γ-rays is 100,000 times higher than that of a conventional 57Co source with an activity of 100 mCi, enabling sample measurements in special environments and micro-Mossbauer spectroscopy.
